“Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.”

By: Langston Hughes

I choose this poem because i think it holds a very important message for anyone that reads it. This poem is about dreams and how important they are to living your life to the fullest. The beginning of the poem is telling you to never give up or throw your dreams away, because life with out dreams is not living. This holds a very important spot in my heart because i am a strong believer that if you want to do something in your life than you need to everything in your power to make your dreams come true. The ending of this 8 line poem is telling that when an opportunity to follow your dreams comes up to take it and go for it. I absolutely love how Langston compared life to a broken winged bird because with out having goals in your life is there really any reason to live? Dreams are very important to be happy and to have hope to have the best life.
